What are the most Effective Baseball Pitching Workout Programs
Written by sports blogger on February 22, 2009 – 3:33 am -Some coaches just don’t really understand correct baseball pitching mechanics, and therefore end up having their pitchers dedicate much of their efforts performing drills that just aren’t very effective at increasing pitching speed and accuracy. These coaches probably also make their players life weights with the goal of building up arm strength, but this isn’t required in order to throw at a higher velocity. The amount of time spent in baseball pitching workout programs could be much better spent if coaches would focus on the pitching techniques and the way that the entire body can be used to generate more power to improve the speed of a pitcher’s pitching.
A few common aspects of most baseball pitching workouts include pitching drills, lifting weights, using weighted balls, and stretching have proven to actually do more harm to pitchers than good or actually end up decreasing a pitcher’s velocity. This is because most of these methods or drills don’t focus on the body as a whole. The best pitchers use use their whole body when they throw the pitch, and not simply their arms. When you use your entire body to throw the pitch, and do it with maximum effectiveness, there are certain postures that your body should go through, and if a pitcher trains his body in this process, it becomes natural to use proper pitching mechanics.
While this theory has been proved in a number of studies, most coaches don’t realize it yet. Consequently, many baseball coaches continue to have their pitchers waste the time spent in pitching workouts with the methods that aren’t as useful in actually improving pitching. More and more people are beginning to learn about how important it is to use their whole body and the correct way of throwing a pitch through the use of training videos and manuals that you can find on the internet.
Hopefully, as more testing shows the typical pitching workout programs are not as effective as many believed, more coaches will switch to more effective pitching training regimens. Better workouts will lead players through pitching mechanicsb, beginning from the end and moving backwards, and on learning how to use their bodies to produce the explosive velocity that can be generated during the throwing of a pitch if everything is done just right.
